SEUM Advises Mobility Startup Kornatus Operator of “Half-and-Half Taxi” in Series A Funding

SEUM advised mobility startup Kornatus, operator of “Half-and-Half Taxi” in its KRW 3.5 billion Series A financing. This round included investments from strategic investors SK Gas and Motov, as well as Northern Light Venture Capital (NLVC), Seoul Business Agency (SBA), Ahn Investment, TBT, SparkLabs Ventures, and BonAngels.

“Half-and-Half Taxi” is a mobility platform that connects users who wish to share rides on taxis with taxi drivers. Since being appointed as the No. 1 mobility business in the ICT Regulatory Sandbox of July 2019 (see relevant news article here), the platform has been showing steady growth as more than 10,000 taxi drivers and 65,000 passengers in Seoul have registered as users of the platform. Kornatus plans to use the investment proceeds to expand the “Half-and-Half Taxi” service to the entire nation of Korea that will serve as a model of innovation in the mobility sector based on the symbiotic relationship between drivers and passengers.

As the legal partner of Kornatus since advising in its Pre-Series A funding round, SEUM was in the best position to provide advice for the efficient closing of this Series A round.

The SEUM team was comprised of partner Hoseok Jung and associates Egyul Kim.
