SEUM advised SK Gas, Inc. (“SK Gas”) in its outbound investment in U.S. company CZero, Inc. (“Czero”).

C-Zero is a California-based startup that produces turquoise hydrogen through a technology that decomposes natural gas, which is mainly composed of methane, into hydrogen and solid carbon through a high-temperature reactor and catalytic reaction. This is called the natural gas pyrolysis (Methane Pyrolysis) source technology, and turquoise hydrogen does not generate carbon dioxide in the production process and is recognized as one of the core technologies for new and renewable energy.

As a leading company in the domestic energy industry, including LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) and LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas), SK Gas has recently been expanding its business areas in various ways to provide sustainable eco-friendly energy solutions and to become a global eco-friendly total energy company. This CZero investment can be generally viewed as SK Gas’s move to build a hydrogen business ecosystem in line with the carbon-neutral era by preoccupying eco-friendly turquoise hydrogen production technology.

SEUM advised SK Gas’s subsidiary SK Gas USA, Inc. throughout the investment process from the term sheet phase until the consummation of the investment in Czero.
