"Attorney SeungminLee from SEUM analyzed the current status and prospects of Bitcoin spot ETFs, a major issue in the virtual asset market, under the theme 'Will Bitcoin Spot ETFs Be Approved?'"

Attorney Seungmin Lee discussed the negative reaction of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to BlackRock, the world's largest asset management firm. When on June 15, 2023, SEC criticized Blackrock applying for approval of a spot ETF. The SEC expressed concerns about the unclear investor protection and insufficient regulation of exchanges as reasons for the negative response. Attorney Seungmin Lee predicted that it would be challenging for the SEC to continue rejecting ETF listings due to regulatory deficiencies, especially considering ongoing regulatory inclusion efforts in various countries, including Europe.

He further stated, "The positive impact of the introduction of spot ETFs is evident," emphasizing that the approval of Bitcoin spot ETFs would lead to increased demand from various financial investment firms, new investments from individuals who had not invested in virtual assets before, and the emergence of institutional investors who were previously unable to invest due to regulations. He emphasized the need to observe the market as it grows due to these developments, acknowledging that despite taking time, such trends are inevitable.
