On Tuesday, April 30, 2024, the law firm SEUM, in collaboration with tech media outlet Tech M, held the 'BEYOND Bitcoin' seminar. This seminar attracted over 70 participants who were interested in the digital asset market, regulations, and trends(Link).

In particular, SEUM's Attorney Seungmin Lee delivered a lecture on "Approval of the US Ethereum Spot ETF and Prospects for the Domestic Market" during Session 2. He carefully examined the possibility of the approval of Ethereum ETFs and the potential for ETF approval in Korea. With conflicting predictions about the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) possibly approving the Ethereum spot Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) in May or delaying the approval, Seungmin Lee emphasized, "There is no urgent reason for the SEC to rush the approval of the Ethereum spot ETF," supporting the opinion that the approval would be postponed. However, he also noted that the SEC lacks justification to continuously delay the approval of the Ethereum spot ETF(Link).   

Additionally, Attorney Seungmin Lee stated, "If the US approves the spot ETF, it is expected that other countries will follow suit, which increases the likelihood of Korea approving the Bitcoin spot ETF." He concluded his lecture by suggesting that Korea should not only focus on regulating digital assets but also make efforts to attract foreign capital by utilizing the infrastructure and personnel related to virtual assets.[Picture=Tech M]
