[Event Report] Attorney Seungku Byun Participates in 'Policy Discussion for Promoting Business Succession' Hosted by Korea Federation of SMEs
Attorney Seungku Byun of SEUM Law (“SEUM'”) participated in the '2025 Business Succession Hope Forum' hosted by the Korea Federation of SMEs on Monday, September 8, 2025. As part of this forum, Attorney Byun participated as a legal expert in the 'Policy Discussion for Promoting Business Succession,' where he discussed policy tasks for family succession and third-party M&A succession to ensure the sustainable management and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.
The discussion was held at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Busan, bringing together Attorney Byun of SEUM, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (“MSS”), Korea Federation of SMEs, The Korea Economic Daily, Korea Capital Market Institute, Samil Accounting Corporation, Korea Technology Finance Corporation, and private companies related to business succession. Key agenda items included the direction of major policies for business succession through M&A, with opinions and recommendations from experts in various fields.
Following his participation in the ‘Expert Discussion on Future-Oriented SME Succession’ hosted by the MSS last year and his activities in the Business Succession Task Force, Attorney Byun participated in this year's policy discussion and shared insights based on his years of hands-on M&A experience. In particular, he provided expert opinions on establishing a comprehensive M&A support system in relation to the ‘Business Succession Special Act (tentative title)’ that the MSS is currently promoting.
SEUM has been officially designated by the MSS as an ‘SME M&A Support Center’ since 2021, with Attorney Byun serving as the center director and continuing various activities including hosting M&A conferences and enterprise valuation deliberation committees.
